The Silent Symphony

by Emily Carde

“Embrace my hand, I’ll not abandon thee.

Towards heaven glance,” this tender sprite implores.

“And, follow me to woodland’s edge to see,

You’ll drink my medleys of forgotten scores.

You cannot fathom Eden’s muted song,

Though perfect harmonies suffuse the air,

Thy fallen ears still opened but to wrong,

So feast your eyes while yet you can but stare.

Now look down, deep into the wooded calm,

Where twinkling bulbs of fairies in disguise

As fireflies, with light form praise and psalm,

This symphony played but for mortal eyes.”

No man has heard this perfect tune to end.

Such beauty only glimpsed, and never penned.
